WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF ADVERSE WEATHER?
In Catalonia, weather is rarely bad enough to make birding impossible, but it can happen sometimes. We are always keeping track of the forecast, so perhaps we will be able to predict the impossibility of making the trip and propose an alternative date. Otherwise, the trip could be cancelled.

WHAT ABOUT TEMPERATURES?
Catalonia has a mediterranean climate for the most part, but it is also a very mountainous country. Higher parts of the Pyrenees have an alpine or subalpine climate, with cool summers and cold winters. This region also receives frequent summer storms. The inland plains have a dry continental climate and you should expect hot temperatures in summer, especially in the central hours of the day. On the other hand, this same area can be quite cold in winter. The milder temperatures correspond always to the coastal areas, where it is rare to go below freezing temperatures. In general, rainfall is low compared to many parts of Northern Europe. Before your trip, we will provide a general picture of the expected weather for the days and visited areas, as well as a recommendation about clothing, etc.

BIRDING HOURS
During late autumn, winter and early spring it is possible to go birding all day. Depending on the area, during late spring, summer and early autumn it is sometimes recommended to take a break during the hottest hours, when bird activity decreases a lot and temperatures climb up.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO COME?
Birding is always interesting in Catalonia. Some birds are spring/summer visitors, while others are strict migrants or wintering species. Some are present all year, but easier to see during some periods. So don’t hesitate to ask, we will gladly answer all your questions and help you get your desired birding experience.
